BBB Prediction Blog: Frankenstein's Monster VS Freddy Fazbear

“Sometimes dead is better.”

 - Stephen King

The Monster, the composite creature brought back to life by Dr. Frankenstein.

Freddy Fazbear, the haunted animatronic mascot from Five Nights at Freddy's.

Humans. The most interesting species on the entire planet, being the most intelligent beings on Earth, capable of thinking beyond instinct and survival, achieving things that no other animal on the planet can do. But with this intelligence comes reflection, giving humans enough awareness to realize what life is, knowing that there is an end to everything, but that is something that humans have tried to expand as long as possible... and in some cases challenge.

These two creatures were part of the experiments of a madman, once dead but now receiving the gift of life for nothing but eternal suffering and pain, resenting their creators with no desire except to take their lives. They are called Monsters because of their appearance, but with their origins, horrible lives, level of understanding and that the people responsible for it don't care at all, who is the real monster here?

Old meets New, as these creatures will cross paths and one of them will return to the world of the dead. Will the Monster make Freddy's five nights also his last, or will Freddy tear the monster into pieces and burn what's left? There's only one way to find out, by taking a look at their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win… a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start…

For this blog I will use the original versions of both characters with a little bit of composite but not too much. Let me explain.

For The Monster, I’m going to use Mary Shelley's original novel as the main source, but I’m also going to composite it with the classic 1931 film starring Boris Karloff and its sequels with The Bride, Son, and Ghost of Frankenstein, and also the crossovers with the other monsters as a secondary source. I’m also not going to scale the Monster with other Monsters from crossover movies like Dracula, The Wolf Man or Abbott and Costello because they don't interact enough with him to justify the scaling.

And I know there's a whole thing about the name becuase Frankenstein is the name doctor and not the monster, but to avoid having to call him The Monster all the time and to not get confused, I am going to refer to the creature as both Frankenstein and Frankenstein’s Monster for this blog after the Background part and I am going to clarify when I am talking about the man and the monster (although it is difficult to say which Frankenstein is the real monster).

For Freddy, I am going to composite all versions of Classic Freddy in all his appearances in the video games, the pixel minigames inside of the games, comics, and books. I am also going to scale Freddy with the other Animatronics since Freddy is a superior model than other animatronics, he has been built equally as his other animatronic companions and they have directly interacted with other animatronics.

Despite this, this will not be a fully composite Freddy, I am not going to use feats from FNAF World, information from FNAF VR, or use other Freddies that are directly different versions of Freddy such as Toy Freddy, Nightmare Freddy or Glamrock Freddy. Despite using different Freddies from different media, my goal is not so much to use all the Freddies with the classic design, but rather to focus on a more grounded Freddy (or as grounded as one can be in FNAF). Also, FNAF Lore is confusing and difficult to follow, so maybe there are things I get wrong in the Background and descriptions of the things that Freddy has, so forgive me for the mistakes I will inevitably make and maybe I contradicted myself.

I would also like to give credit to some sources that I used as a basis for research for my blog (and that I totally did not copy and paste here).

Those being the G1 Blog of the Universal Monsters Battle Royale, the Crypto Xing episode of Frankenstein vs The Golem, the Respect Threads of the Classic Animatronics, The G1^2 Blog on Bendy VS Springtrap, and the Nemesis Bloodryche video of Luigi VS Five Nights at Freddy's. I also want to personally thank my friend Keith LeRacc for doing two calculations for me (Interestingly both have to do with the characters surviving a burning structure).

With all that finally out of the way, let's get started with the blog.

Background

Frankenstein’s Monster

"If I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear!"

Born in Geneva, Switzerland in the 1700’s, Victor Frankenstein was born to a wealthy and prosperous family. He was a science fanatic studying all the books in the family library in pursuit of a single goal: to understand the nature of nature. Victor was a genius, destined to become one of the greatest minds in history, but when Victor arrived at college, his quest for knowledge began to get out of control. He wanted to understand and control one of the greatest forces in the universe that even the brightest minds of the past did not understand, Life. That's why Victor dedicated himself to creating the greatest scientific discovery of all time; Create life out of nothing.

He began to raid numerous cemeteries to obtain human body parts of the highest quality so that his creation would be as perfect as he imagined. For months, Victor spent his time creating him, causing him to dedicate himself completely to his work, neglect his own health, and slowly become an emaciated shadow of who he used to be. After finally having the creation complete, he flipped the switch and released the spark of life from a lightning bolt (at least that's how he did it in the movie), to finally give life to his creation, and he did it, it was alive! Alive! It was an incredible success... But Victor didn't see it that way.

Instead of a sight of true wonder what Victor saw was a huge creature with yellow (or green) skin, horrible eyes, and parts like veins, muscle, and blood were still visible on this giant. Victor saw in horror, as he did not give life to a man, but to a monster. The first sight of the creature was so horrible that Victor escaped from the place as quickly as possible, moving away from the abomination he had created, leaving the monster with barely a few minutes to live. Frankenstein's Monster, without understanding what was happening around him, ended up roaming the wilderness, cold, alone, and confused.

The Monster would quickly learn parts of his surroundings, the English language, and even gardening, thanks to finding a blind man's shed where the Monster would stay to live secretly while listening to the conversations the man would have with his family and reading his books so that he could learn more quickly.Over time the monster begins to learn more and more until he reaches great intelligence, one almost at the same level as Victor's, but with that intelligence he would also develop awareness, with the Monster realizing how alone he was, without friends, without family, he began to hate his creator for not only abandoning him, but also giving him life for no purpose but existing in eternal suffering.

All the Monster wanted was to be accepted and loved by another being, but everywhere he went he was feared and attacked by everyone he encountered, and he blamed Victor for that. So upon his search for Victor and upon their encounter, the Monster wanted to afflict him with as much suffering as he has suffered, in the process killing Victor's younger brother, his father, his closest friends and even his lover (who was also his adopted sister). Upon meeting Victor again he asked him to create a bride for him so that he would stop being alone, Victor not wanting to make the same mistake twice and with the fear that both could reproduce and create a whole new species of monsters, he just decided not to do it, and the monster ends up killing his wife-sister for that decision, Victor chased the monster to the North Pole for that where Victor would end up dying from exhaustion and exposure. With his creator finally dead, the Monster decides to stay at the North Pole with nowhere to go, where he eventually took his own life by burning himself in a huge fire.

In Universal's first film adaptation, many things would change, such as the circumstances of its creation, the monster being captured by its creator and trying to prevent it from escaping, making the Monster a more innocent being with his more accidental acts of murder, Victor was called Henry for some reason, and he was a actual Doctor (seriously, the guy didn't even graduate from college), a bride being actually created for the Monster with the help of a original character Doctor Septimus Pretorius the ended up hating the Monster anyway, the Monster being commanded by Ygor, that was also a movie creation BTW, to commit more murders, meet the likes of the Wolf Man and Abbott and Costello, the Monster would even meet a different apparent demise by Doctor Frankenstein’s son, Baron Wolf von Frankenstein.

Regardless of the version of the Monster and his creator we are talking about, Victor Frankenstein and his Monster represent many things, the struggle between father and son, self and others, love and hate, science and morality, abandonment and acceptance. The Nameless Monster is a being brought into this world by a man who wanted to create life out of ego and not to give that life what all life deserves, regardless of appearance. And despite both being so different, even to this day both are still known by the same name 'Frankenstein' to the general public, after all; Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein is not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein is the monster.

Freddy Fazbear

"When you wake up, just remember friends are forever."

Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun comes to life. Subsidiary of Fazbear Entertainment, founded in 1979 by business partners and animatronic enthusiasts, William Afton and Henry Emily, what would start as a small restaurant called Fredbear's Family Diner, would quickly become one of the leading food and entertainment restaurant franchises. Quickly creating merchandise and even his own cartoon show. Although Williaim's business mind was a huge factor in the restaurant's success, the big innovation that put the Fazbear brand on the map was Henry's incredible animatronics. William didn't have much to complain about, he had a successful business, a wife, three kids, and even managed to learn the craft of robotics from Henry himself, but still, Afton was not satisfied.

During the creation of the first generation of animatronics, William wanted to go one step further than what they did, it occurred to him that the animatronics could not only be locked to the stage but could freely roam the restaurant, converting mascot suits that could become animatronics and vice versa, thus creating the first Springlock Suits for Golden Freddy and Golden Bunny along with the restaurant's main lineup; Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, Foxy the Pirate Fox, and the star of the show and brand; Freddy Fazbear.

For a long time William's life was practically perfect, until at a tragic birthday party in '83, one of William's sons, Micheal, played a little prank on his little brother only known as The Crying Child, making him approach the animatronics that he feared so much, as Micheal and his friends put the little boy between the jaws of Golden Freddy's Springlock Suits, the sensitive spring locks inside the Animatronic had been triggered by the movement, and the mouth snapped shut, causing the frontal lobe the Child to be bitten off. This event affected Afton tremendously, not only because he had lost a son to another son, but the Springlock Suits, his creations, had to be retired, locked away in a closed area of the Pizzeria. Moments before his son passed away in the hospital bed, William promised him that somehow, he will put him back together, even though he didn't know how.

One night William was driving to the restaurant when he saw Henry's daughter, Charlie, locked out of the building with bullies taunting her. At that moment, something took over him, maybe he was drunk, maybe it was that he blame Henry for all the tragedies in his life, maybe he was already crazy, whatever the reason, William thought of making Henry feel what he felt, attacking Charlie in the back alley until her life was taken by William's hands... At that moment, William Afton became a killer.

Charlie's death awakened something inside Afton, he wanted more of that feeling. Disguised with his Golden Bunny Springlock suit, he would attract children to him so he could kill them where no one would see them, putting the bodies inside the restaurant's animatronics since he was the only one who maintained them anyway.

One of these victims was a boy named Gabriel, not much is known about Gabriel's life before his encounter with Afton except that he was looking for one of his friends who was one of William's victims. William would kill Gabriel like the others and put his body inside the Freddy Animatronic. Eventually the company would find it difficult to keep the restaurant open with too many reports of children being lost around the building, with the pizzeria being temporarily closed and the old animatronics being moved to a new location, William would go undercover as a security guard to keep close to them, since he was beginning to notice that the animatronics move on their own.

William dismantled the animatronics one by one to find out how they moved, maybe it had to do with the spirits of the dead children, maybe it was the key to bringing his son back to life. The former ended up being correct because during the experiments the spirits of his victims came out and attacked him to make him pay for what he did, in a panic, William put on his suit to gain some kind of power over them, but history repeated itself as the spring locks snapped into place, with William inside it, causing his death. Fazbear Entertainment, would try to cover all of this in order to keep the franchise and the brand intact, including the same possessed animatronics. The animatronics would spend the nights putting security guards inside other animatronics to make them feel the same punishment that they went through and killing anybody who comes after hours like thieves, creating a bigger bad reputation for the restaurant.

Until one day an adult Micheal Afton (or Mike Schmidt) would get a job as a security guard at the restaurant to be able to correct all the mistakes made by his father. After surviving five nights against the animatronics that wanted to kill him, Micheal burned the place down because he discovered that this was the only way for the souls of the murdered children to move on to the afterlife. And he did it, he managed to free the souls of all the victims of his father. And maybe they could visit hell sometimes so they can participate in the eternal torture of William Afton, who knows?

Fazbear Entertainment will continue to exist as a company, rebranding and looking for any excuse to keep the murderers as false rumors, even creating new versions of Freddy with more advanced Animatronics. In any case, the stories of the Fazbear Pizzeria would continue to be told to this day, since it doesn't matter if it's a killer, a company, or even a mascot, it always comes back!

Equipment

Frankenstein

Firearms

(He’s packing heat)

Near the end of the original novel, Frankenstein gets a bunch of pistols and even a gun, but as far as we know, he never uses them, so…

Freddy

Pizza

Freddy couldn't call himself the mascot of a Pizza restaurant if he didn't know how to handle his product. Although this may not seem like much, the temperature of a freshly made pizza can be between 800°F and 900°F, so someone who is hit by a full pizza on the face or another part of the body can end up with serious burns.

Microphone

In the FNaF band, Freddy takes the role of the lead singer, so he has to have a good Mic so that the audience can hear his beautiful singing voice. As for use in combat… he can, like, throw it or something.

Hat

Eeyup. Freddy's cute little bowler hat. He... sure has one.

Abilities

Frankenstein

Monster’s Physiology

The Monster, standing about 8 feet tall, was designed to be physically superior and perfect compared to any other normal human being.
To do this, Victor did not collect just any human body parts that could be found, but rather he searched especially for ideal humans and their best attributes such as the limbs of athletes, the hands and eyes of artists, and the brain of a genius. This would make Frankenstein technically a type of medical Chimera, an organism whose cells originate from other organisms, but put together by science rather than magic.

Curiously, in the original book they never reveal how Victor actually brings the monster to life other than putting the body parts together. So the movies had to add to the Frankenstein Lore the use of a bolt of electricity from a storm which would be transmitted to him by two exterior electrodes builts connected to his neck to give him life. More details on that later.

This would result in a new being with biological elements such as blood or even cells would be completely different from those of a normal human being, giving him superior strength that allows him to overpower a normal human, speed that make him to travel at subsonic speeds, and resilience that makes him able to survive any type of weapon of the time, gunshots, and even the destruction of a building. In addition, it also has a Semi-Defunct Physiology, which is when something has no physiological limits such as requiring food or rest, to an extent in this case. Although Frankenstein's Monster still needs to sleep, he’s able to survive extreme temperatures such as extreme heat and cold, and can go a long time without eating, only surviving out of wild berries and acorns.

Frankenstein also has a regeneration that is very... interesting. Although he can be hurt by bullets, the fact that he was able to take one shot to the heart in the book and two in the movies, it is obvious that he did not succumb to his injuries like a normal human being would, he requires time for these injuries heal, but significantly faster than a normal person. But his regeneration does not seem to be 'healing' in the traditional sense; where normal body healing cells would divide to create new tissue to replace the damaged tissue, in Frankenstein his tissue seems to just put itself back together. In the Son of Frankenstein is noticed how it seems that all of his cells seem to behave as if independently animated and sentient.

Other things to highlight about Frankenstein's biology is that he is hypopituitary, meaning he has a short supply of hormones that control his growth, accounting for his immense size. His heart is superhumanly powerful, pumping blood at a rate of 250 BPM and resulting in blood pressure three times that of a normal person. Which all makes sense considering his massive size in the original book, which is already bigger than the size he had in the movies where all that was said.

Fast Learning and Intelligence

Normally Frankenstein is presented in different media as a giant brain-dead idiot who speaks slowly and does not understand his surroundings, but that was not the case in the original book, on the contrary. Although at first he started out barely sentient and incapable of understanding his surroundings, it was more like the mentality of a newborn baby. In two years he would learn faster than the average person to make things like fire, learn about words and speech, all by listening to conversions and observation in general. With this same method, he learned to read, later reading literary classics like Paradise Lost, even knowing the struggles of living after reading poverty. He also managed to decipher some of Victor's notes and even found the doctor himself using said notes and a few clues. When he found Victor, he managed to manipulate him to give into his demands, showing that at this point Frankenstein's Monster was as smart, if not smarter, than his own creator.

But Frankenstein's Monster's intelligence is not just reduced to knowledge, he has also been shown to use strategy, creativity and being able to think outside the box on multiple occasions; Like when he was able to quickly frame a woman for murder and escape from the crime scene. He can also recognize and adapt to the advantages of his opponents, such as when he decided to acquire some huskies and a sled after seeing his creator do the same and realizing that he was losing ground on his way to the North Pole.

Stealth Mastery

One wouldn't think that from his massive size and unmistakable appearance, but Frankenstein's Monster has hidden from humanity literally his entire life, so he became adept in stealth.

There are several examples of this, such as going unnoticed by a girl even as she ran to where he was hiding, stalk Victor from Switzerland to Scotland, all without Victor seeing him, sneak onto Captain Robert Walton's ship without anyone noticing, and somehow hide on a ship and disappear when Victor boarded the same ship.

Sedative Resistance & Potential Adaptation

There was a time when Frankenstein was injected with a sedative with the intention of keeping him asleep while he was dissected, but he woke up before he was full and strangled the doctor working on him.

Of course this could be that the sedative was not a good one, but it could also be that Frankenstein's body adapted to the sedative and built resistance to it over time, and it is possible that with everything already established with his biology, he could adapt to other similar substances and situations and create new resistance to effects such as those of the sedative.

Electrical Empowerment

In The Ghost of Frankenstein, it is revealed that the lightning bolt that gave Frankenstein life in the first place was truly cosmic in nature, resulting in an entirely unearthly creature. In fact, later in the movie he was able to tank a hit from another bolt of lightning and was good for it, as it made Frankenstein stronger. This doesn't work with all electricity, requiring a real bolt of lightning (or 5 megavolts of energy, being the same thing) for Frankenstein to be at his full potential with the strength of 100 men.

Freddy

Animatronic Physiology

Freddy and the rest of the Animatronics were built by the brilliant creator Henry Emily. Emily's Animatronics have always been ahead of his time, considered the most vivid cartoon animals could be, with him constantly pushing the limits of what Animatronics could do, almost giving them a spark of life.

Freddy is part of the Classic Animatronics lineup that would be used in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Standing at 6 feet tall, these Animatronics work with a metal Inner or Endo Skeleton to move the body parts of the characters such as arms, legs, eyelids, jaws, and ears with joints, they would be wired and then covered by a suit made of fabric and filled with cross-beams. The Skeletons that the Animatronics have are the Endo-01 models, these would be characterized by their thinner pipe-like structures for limbs and stomach, and use of a divided mouth with either a hinged or sliding jaw design, hinged in the case of Freddy.

These Animatronics are very strong, possibly stronger than Henry intended them to be, what with them being able to easily kill people and all. And despite their enormous size and the fact that they are made mostly of metal, they are also very aerodynamic, capable of moving faster than the human eye can see. They also have hard-biting jaws, sharp jaws, and other things that make them prodigious at killing people, even though they were designed to entertain children.

Aside from their typical main job of entertaining children during the day, the animatronics also have a "free-roaming mode" (due to their servos locking up if they stay in place for too long) that allows them to move around the entire Pizzeria after that it closes, although due to its programming it cannot distinguish between an Endoskeletons and a normal person, causing... unfortunate results.

I should also highlight that in the Lore of the games the Classic Animatronics became the Withered Animatronics, which are exactly the same Animatronics from the first game but older, destroyed and in worse condition. For what matters, Freddy would be the one who would end up with the least damage and better condition.

Oh, yeah and... since they are literally robots they don't need to eat, drink, sleep, or any of those things. I didn't think I should mention that, but I assumed someone would be mad if I didn't.

Remnant

This is Remnant, or soul energy, they are the same thing. Remnant is basically someone's soul when they can't leave the physical world. Normally when someone dies their soul goes to the afterlife, but immense amounts of emotion, preferably negative emotion, can tether the soul in the physical world.

Remnant comes in two forms; A spiritual form and a liquid form. When observed by the majority of people, it appears to be a ball of light similar to an aurora. In this form, it is much more ethereal than anything else and exists as a wisp of soul energy that is difficult to capture. However, when this substance is exposed to high levels of heat or is used to possess an object, it molds into a more liquid form. In this form, it can be easily manipulated and split apart by external forces, allowing anybody to do things like inject it into living beings to commune with the spirits the Remnant was gathered from.

It seems that someone's Remnant varies a lot depending on the soul of the person it comes from, as we have seen many Remnants do things that others cannot. For example, normally Remnant being burned too high would cause it to free the soul to the afterlife, but when Springtrap was burned his Remnant remained in place.

What does all this have to do with Freddy? Well, compared to the rest of the Animatronics in the first game, Freddy is… strange. He doesn't run to the guard out of strange programming or by random chance like the rest, Freddy seems to know, almost conscious, he goes through a single route, uncontrolled by anyone, unstoppable, he runs and class as he can and when the guard isn't ready, he attacks.

There is a fan theory that the Classic Animatronics already had the Souls of children but they couldn't do anything because of their programming, and it wasn't until they became The Withered that they were finally able to move freely, when the souls took full control of the robot bodies. Perhaps Gabriel's Remnant was so powerful that he was able to overcome the programming long before the other souls could.

I know this is much more fan theory than official canon, but this is FNAF, one shouldn't be too surprised by that, and we should accept it at this point.

Possession & Immortality

When someone is faced with a horrible event (most cases murder in this franchise), the agony one experiences during that event seeps into the surrounding objects. In this case, the murder that Gabriel and the other dead children had experienced was so horrible that it caused their souls to become Remnant and possess the Animatronics, since that was where William put their bodies.

Even if the object it possesses is destroyed, the spirits can tick around for as long as they want to and multiple things. They can possess other objects, roam from body-to-body, possess multiple objects at once, they can even grab onto and claw at each other, but all with the drawback of leaving part of one’s Remnant behind with each possession. But the thing is that a spirit can do all of that only if they lack a desire to move on to the afterlife, that's why William has been constantly possessing new bodies. And that is not the case with Gabriel and the spirits of the other children who wish to move to the afterlife. So…

But it's not like they can do that so easily, it takes a lot for a soul to abandon the objects, such as animatronics, spirits can keep those objects alive and capable despite severe damage to the pieces that allow that object to roam around, even if it is reduced to wires, computer chips, the endoskeleton itself, even when reduced to merely the suit's head, the spirits will still stick on the possessed object.

Jump Scaring

The most used tactic of all the Animatronics in the franchise to attack anyone. After going from room to room and waiting for a moment, the Animatronics get in front of the person or jump towards them making that high-pitched scream and the person dies instantly. When the lights go out, Freddy goes faster to the Security Guard, he stands in front of the door with his eyes flash, a little music starts playing from his music box, and after a bit he does the jump scare.

Feats

Frankenstein’s Monster

Overall

Scaling

Frankenstein

Poor Frankenstein, he has no one to scale to. It makes sense, with him being the outlier in a standalone novel and film series. Wait, maybe I can scale him to The Wolf Man.

No, The Wolf Man is weak, let's move on.

Freddy

The Classic Animatronics

The original four Animatronic that started it all, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. They were all built and designed by Henry using the same materials at roughly around the same time, so it makes sense that Freddy would scale with his other three bandmates.

The Twisted Animatronics

These abominations straight out of your worst nightmares are a series of animatronics created and designed by William Afton himself. Consisting of Twisted Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Wolf, each is equipped with the most advanced technology created by the Bunny Man himself, including his Illusion Discs, they were created to be fully capable of capturing adults.

On one occasion, the Twisted Animatronics met the classic Animatronics, and they completely destroyed them. With Foxy turning Twisted Wolf into pieces with his hook, Bonnie throwing Twisted Bonnie at Chica, and Chica rips off Twisted Bonnie's head, and even Freddy hit one of them in the head with both hands so hard that he crushed it. So the Classic Animatronics and Freddy should absolutely scale to them.

Springtrap

Springtrap, AKA William Afton, AKA Purple Guy, AKA Scraptrap, AKA Glitchtrap, AKA The funny ''I always come back'' guy, the man who killed all the children and put them in the Animatronics in the first place. When it comes to the timeline of the franchise it is difficult to say what the relationship is between the Classic Animatronics and the Springlock Suit that Afton would use in his death and in future appearances.

They may have been created at the same time, or it may be that the Springlock Suits were created before the Animatronics making them outdated version, either way, it makes sense that Freddy would be compared in some capacity to Springtrap, although definitely not to some of the crazy stuff that Afton does later in the franchise, but at least to a couple of notable feats done by the original Springlock Suit.

Weaknesses

Frankenstein

Despite all the strengths of Frankenstein's Monster and with the intentions of its creator, it is not perfect. With the most obvious weaknesses coming from the movies, being clumsy, incredulous, easily manipulated and with a huge fear of fire (ironically).

But the original book version still has its share of weaknesses, despite having incredible resistance, he still needs food, water, rest, and warmth like any human being. It's also debatable whether he can do his best feats in a normal fight, considering he did all of this inspired by his massive hatred of Victor, stopping at nothing until he suffered. On a similar note, Frankenstein's Monster, despite having a lot of knowledge in various things, does not have experience in fighting, with him always easily killing any normal human with a stranglehold, causing the monster to possibly not know what to do when encountering someone stronger than him.

But the most direct weakness to ending Frankenstein is that, although Frankenstein's immortal cells can repair themselves, destroying the cells directly could circumvent this. (Doubly) Ironically, the most direct way to do this would be with fire, as this is presumably what he did to take his own life at the end of the novel.

Freddy

Freddy sure is impressive for an animatronic bear for a Pizzeria, but he obviously still has his exploitable weaknesses. First, it is difficult to say lore-wise how much of Freddy's actions are his programming or the spirit possessing him, in any case Freddy has an all-in strategy when attacking someone, he just jumps scares them and then kills them or puts them inside an Animatronic.

Freddy also has small weaknesses due to his programming, such as not being able to enter through the metal doors of the security guard's room, cannot attack someone with a Freddy mask, and he can be slowed down by watching him through the security cameras.

But something that would end Freddy for good would be the elimination of his Remnant, and so far in Lore the only way to do that is by heating Remnant to too high of a degree can cause it to destabilize and forcibly eject it to the afterlife, though the exact extent is finicky (At least we know it's hot enough to burn down an entire restaurant).

Before We Get to the Verdict

Scaling with the other Animatronics and Springtrap

Alright, you guys might have noticed a lot of Animatronics that I haven't used for Scaling with Freddy like The Toy Animatronics, The Phantom Animatronics, The Nightmare Animatronics, The Rockstar Animatronics, etc. The reason for that is because these have been created in the timeline long after the Classic Animatronics series, making them superior versions of the Animatronics created before them, such as Freddy and the crew. That added to the fact that they never interacted with the Classic Animatronics unlike The Twisted Animatronics, that's why I didn't give them any feats made by Animatronics created chronologically after the classic Animatronics. And I didn't give them any Animatronic feats created before them because they don't have anything.

Another interesting omission is to Springtrap in which I only used two of its feats. The reason I did this is that the other feats that Springtrap has done have been things that Freddy and the other Animatronics have already done, like easily killing a human and others are scaling to other Animatronics that Freddy shouldn't scale. I also left out a Springtrap feat where they describe him as having ''the speed of a race car.'' This is faster than the best feat I found for Freddy, so why didn't I use it? Well, it is noted in the lore of the games that Springtrap moves differently than the other Animatronics, this being a Springlock instead of a normal Animatronic, the body of a person dies there with Afton's soul. That combined with the fact that no other Animatronic has done a feat like that before, is why I didn't include that feat either.

The Non-use of Some of the Games

As you can see I've used not only the mainline games, but also the original Silver Eye novels, the comic book adaptations of those novels, and a minigame to give Freddy something fun. But I have made many games that I casually mentioned in the ''Before We Start'' section, so I will take the opportunity to describe here why I did not use some games on the blog.

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Special Delivery, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach RUIN: These games are completely disconnected from Classic Freddy, they have A Freddy, but a Freddy that is directly different from the Freddy we are talking about and should not scale with the one we are focusing on.
  • FNAF World: This is an explicitly non-canon joke game in which the characters are cartoony versions of themselves. It's cool and has a lot of wacky stuff when it comes to composite Freddy, but I'm not doing that here.
  • Ultimate Custom Night: This is the eternal torture of Afton, the Freddy here it is not known if it is the spirit of the original Freddy torturing his murderer or something wrong, whatever the case, Freddy does not get new feats or scaling of this game anyway.
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2: These games feature VR versions of many of the previous games, including the two FNAF games where Classic Freddy appears, and we even see new things about this Freddy such as being able to open his compartment. Anyway, I didn't include this because these are not simply remakes of the classic VR games, these are in-universe VR games that have an impact on the Lore of the other games, plus we never saw the Animatronic Classics do anything compared to the new thing introduced here, that's why I don't include it.
  • Freddy in Space and Security Breach: Fury’s Rage: Do I really have to explain why I didn't include these games?

Scaling Frankenstein to other Monsters

This is a minor thing, but I feel like I should touch on it. Not only am I using the book Frankenstein in this blog, but I'm also combining it with the original Universal Picture Frankenstein from the movies, so I should scale him to the Monsters from the movies since they've done crossovers, right?

Well, in House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula, Frankenstein and Dracula appear, but they never interact once in the movie, and although Frankenstein fought The Wolf Man in Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man and even won, the Universal Wolf Man is significantly weaker than Frankenstein, like a ton, without any notable feat to mention. Wolf Man's best feat doesn't even come close to Frankenstein's worst feat, I thought I hardly had to bring scaling there. Meaning 0 scaling of both Monsters.

But there's another thing about scaling other Monsters with Frankenstein, is that including them as a factor in this analysis feels wrong considering the story of Frankenstein, composite and everything. Frankenstein is a standalone story in the book where the focus is on the monster and the creator of it, even the four Universal films are their own saga telling a continuous story. Unlike Freddy, which is part of a big franchise with a lot of media where the interaction between characters and scaling feels natural, Frankenstein (the character) is the abnormal thing in his own story, the one that stands out, that is why scaling Frankenstein to something else feels strange, since it almost defeats the point of his story. But it's just a personal opinion and doesn't affect the final verdict anyway.

Verdict

Stats

Analyzing these two in terms of strength is interesting, we know for a fact that they are stronger than the typical adult man considering that they can kill many of them very easily, but we never get the full picture of the limits of their strength if we take them at face value in their original works, so to get an idea of how strong they are, I'm going to have to use feats from the movie for Franky and scaling to other Animatronics for Freddy.

The best strength feat Freddy should scale is Foxy who smashed and threw an Arcade Cabinet, putting Foxy and in turn Freddy at 165-1600 pounds or 74.84-725.74 Kilogram (Pretty high for Pizzeria Animatronics). In contrast, Frankenstein is said to have the strength of 10 normal people (444.52 Kilogram), one would think that is just a hyperbolic exaggeration, but his feat of rip apart metal chains puts him at 917.74 Kilogram, which already makes him even stronger than the 10 normal people statement. There is also the thing that if he is charged with lightning he would have the strength of 100 normal people (4445.20 Kilogram), but that requires outside forces that Frankenstein cannot control, and he is already 192 times stronger than Freddy anyway.

Luckily, speed is somewhat easier to determine, since the best speed feats of both are made directly by them in their original sources. Both have had many feats of disappearing in front of people, and moving so quickly that they seem like a blurry, but to have something more concrete. Freddy can run from the main stage to inside the guard room in seconds when the lights are out, putting his best speed at 31.5 m/s or 70.36 mph. But Frankenstein was said to have "greater speed than the flight of an eagle", using the Golden Eagle, a common spice of eagle in Switzerland, as an example, that would make Franky roughly 190 miles per hour. And to show that this statement is not an exaggeration either, the time he climbed Mont Salève would make Frankenstein 9 times faster than the average man, and put him at 144 Miles Per Hour, not the exact speed of the Golden Eagle, but around the same ballpark. And doing it too would Frankenstein between 74 times and 120 times faster than Freddy.

But Freddy recovers in terms of durability, normally VS debaters put strength and durability in the same category, but considering the manufactured nature of these characters I think we should separate the two, Freddy should scale to Springtrap and his Twisted Animatronics, who can survive various things that put them at 183.3 megajoules, 9.2-23.1 megajoules, and 169-388 megajoules (Seriously Henry, what metal do you make these things out of?). In contrast, Frankenstein doesn't have many impressive feats other than things that Freddy can also survive like being hit or shot, with his most impressive feat being when he survived the burning windmill collapsing in on him, and that only puts him at 16.47 megajoules. Making Freddy 372 times more durable than Frankenstein.

Frankenstein Monster taking Strength and Speed, while Freddy takes durability.

Arsenal & Abilities

When it comes to Abilities (Because Freddy wins Arsenal with his Hot Pizzas), it's kind of interesting. At first glance, it would seem that Freddy would have the advantage here because of his spirit and his Remnant. The Remnant gives Freddy the opportunity to continue in battle even if his body is destroyed by being able to do many things such as possess other objects, possess multiple objects at once, roam from body-to-body, and even take on the spirit of Frankenstein. So this is a Win for Freddy, right?

Well, first there's the thing that Freddy probably wouldn't do if his body were destroyed, spirits only do that if they want to, but spirits like Gabriel's and the other kids want to move on to the afterlife rather than stay on the physical plane. But assuming the spirit stayed to do all that to win against Frankenstein, it couldn't do much. For example, it is not known whether Frankenstein has a spirit or not, so taking his spirit might not do anything to him, or possess him at all. Besides, the other things might at best be distractions for Frankenstein that wouldn't do him much harm, at best it would just be confusing to him, he could simply destroy the new object that Freddy possessed, even if there are many of them.

And although Franky's abilities are not supernatural, they are a little more effective, like his intelligence. We'll go into this more in depth in the next section, but Frankenstein's intelligence and way to learn fast would help him see everything Freddy does and make a strategy for overcoming.

Another thing that would help is his mastery at stealth, although Freddy uses a little bit of Stealth, he only uses it at the beginning before doing the Jump Scare, Frankenstein uses it all the time, with his superior speed he could dodge many of Freddy's direct attacks and escaping from Freddy's sight, the same with his attacks possessing other objects.

Even so, Freddy could only theoretically use all of those possession powers if his body was destroyed in the first place, which would already be impossible to do considering his superior durability. There's also Frankenstein getting stronger with a lighting bolt, but again, that's very situational and a non-factor in deciding the winner here.

Although Freddy's abilities seem superior on paper, they are quite situational, and he would only have a 50/50 chance of using them in any way, while Frankenstein's greater observation would allow him to learn everything faster and his stealth would help him dodge and escape from Freddy so he can attack him more.

Tertiary Factors

When it comes to intelligence, Frankenstein takes it, just like that. Freddy is either a robot following his faulty commands, or a child possessing a killer robot. In any case, not much intelligence, and this is shown that in the games and novels Freddy and other animatronics like him only go to the people they want to kill, and they kill them, but Frankenstein watches from the shadows, manipulates, frames people for things. What they didn't do, he doesn't just go and kill, he plans to kill like anyone else. But one thing is to kill, and another thing is to fight.

Despite Frankenstein's intelligence, he has not learned or had experience fighting anyone, he has not had the need to do so considering how easily he can kill normal people. Surprisingly, Freddy has more experience fighting with his fight with Twisted Animatronics, and that already puts him with more experience fighting than Frankenstein. Theoretically, the fight between the two begins with Frankenstein being overwhelmed by Freddy, mainly due to his superior durability.

But even though Frankenstein hasn't fought or even seen anything like Freddy before, he can learn. Frankenstein's observation and quick learning could give him all the information he needs during the fight, learn when to attack and when not to, see patterns of his opponents and counter them, and even see how to defeat him by exploiting his weaknesses. I didn't say that during the fight Frankenstein will learn all the FNAF Lore, but he might understand Freddy enough to find a way to defeat him, regardless of the superior durability.

It should also be noted that; Although they both have a weakness to fire, Frankenstein knows how to create fire and how dangerous it is for him.

Conclusion

I won't lie, this fight ended up being harder to decide than I expected. Freddy ended up having more advantages than I would expect, his superior durability and more fighting experience could give Frankenstein a very difficult fight at first, but The Monster takes the rest of the categories here. Although Frankenstein is stronger than Freddy, the difference between the durability of the two is greater than the difference between the strengths of the two, and could result in Freddy being more easily able to hurt Frankenstein than is Frankenstein hurting him, or that would be him almost if it weren't for his speed and other abilities. Frankenstein's superior speed could help him dodge Freddy's attacks, combining with his superior stealth, he could escape Freddy's eye after Freddy had already wasted his surprise factor on him.

What Freddy has that could surpass Frankenstein is his powers as a spirit after his body is destroyed, this is what stalled me for a long time, but I realized that this has many factors that might not help Freddy as much as one would think.

  1. We don't know if Frankenstein has a spirit at all, so we don't know if Gabriel's spirit could take it from him when he comes out, even if he did, FNAF Lore is confusing as to how he could take the spirit away from someone who already do you have it or if you could possess it.
  2. The other spirit abilities that he would have would only be to change from place to place and throw things at Frankenstein until he breaks the new thing that the spirit possesses. Which in the long run would help Frankenstein more than the spirit.
  3. To have those abilities in the first place, Frankenstein would have to break Freddy's robotic body in the first place, which is already difficult to do with his superior durability.
  4. Even if the robotic body was destroyed, Gabriel's spirit would probably prefer to go to Afterlife than continue fighting Frankenstein.

So not much help there, but what would help (Frankenstein, not Freddy) would be his increased intelligence and quick learning. Not only could he learn about fighting and exploiting an opponent's weaknesses during it, but he could find a way to defeat Freddy by noticing his patterns and seeing how he acts and then make a strategy to defeat him and perhaps in the process discover his weakness to fire. Even if he didn't find out, it's still possible that he would try to burn Freddy, because he can still create fire in the first place.

Freddy is more impressive than one would expect from a cheap Chuck E. Cheese copy, giving Frankenstein a hell of a fight with his increased durability and fighting experience. But in the end, with his superior strength and speed, greater intelligence, incredible strategic thinking, and the ability to learn how to defeat Freddy during the fight, Franky has everything he needs to take a bite at his Victory.

The Winner… is Frankenstein’s Monster.
